Dr Gernot B Irsigler BSc MBChB MD FRCP (Canada)
Gernot qualified at The University of Witwatersrand in 1964, subsequently obtained his BSc in 1966 and in 1972 obtained Board Certification, American Board of Internal Medicine.

In the same year, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada). He completed his MD at the University of Pretoria in 1983 and became a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians in 1988.

He has trained at Johannesburg General Hospital, Beth Israel Medical Centre, New York and Boston City Hospital. He was the Chairman of The South African Pulmonology Society (S A P S) (Northern Transvaal Branch) from 1973 to 1985 and President from 1979 – 1980.

He has also been a member of the American Thoracic Society, The New York Academy of Sciences, Executive Council, Private Practice Representative and Chairman and Founder Member of the Representative Association of Pulmonologists.

He has published extensively in the peer reviewed scientific literature on respiratory and sleep disorders.
